General Packaging Guidelines

Please consider:

Packaging must be of a suitable size for cargo to be shipped.

· Boxes must be in acceptable transportation conditions – no perforations, cuts, or damaged corners or edges.
· If container uses wheels, make sure to park / immobilize them, or remove them if possible.
· Any shipment with protruding ends should be covered with a protective material.
· Wooden packaging for import and export must comply with respective standards NOM- 144-SEMARNAT- 2012 or NIMF 15.
· For shipments over 80 kg, a steel pallet surface should be considered to ensure optimal cargo handling.

Aeroméxico Cargo NEVER accepts as packing/packaging material:

Egg carton boxes or crates

Newspaper

Gift wrapping paper

Kraft paper

Coolers with water drainage pump

Goods prohibited for air transport

Due to Aeromexico Cargo's commitment to air safety and animal welfare, as well as compliance with authority regulations, the following goods are prohibited for air transport by AMC:

Shark fin

Infected animals

Primates
Ferrets

Dead animals

Hunting trophies

Animals with unweaned
offspring or pregnant

Cats or dogs under
12 weeks of age.

Cargo or animals with
penetrating odors.

Piracy

Drugs

Firearms or their
components

Loose lithium
batteries

Radioactive materials

Self-balancing
vehicles

Blood, plasma and
its derivatives*AUTHORIZED COMPANIES ONLY

And any other cargo prohibited by any applicable government provision,
which transport is prohibited by any applicable government provision.

*Extreme temperatures represent a risk for brachycephalic breeds because their bone structure has characteristics that make breathing difficult, thus, there is latent risk of suffering respiratory insufficiency during transportation.

Goods of common use that can be classified as hazardous goods

The transport of certain common goods can be classified as hazardous and must be declared as such, and must comply with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Regulations for the Handling of Hazardous Goods.

Some examples of these goods are:

· Alcoholic drinks
· Detergents
· Devices containing a battery
· Lighters
· Explosives
· Matches
· Toxic, flammable or non-flammable gases

· Dry ice
· Insecticides
· Radioactive material
· Magnetized materials
· Mercury
· Paint
· Flammable solids
· Solvents
· Combustion substances
· Corrosive substances
· Toxic and infectious substances

Any hidden or non-declared hazardous materials causes a breach to the following regulations:

· Annex 17 and 18 of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
· Article 118, section III of Airport Act Regulations.
· Mandatory Circular CO AV-17.5/07 of the DGAC (General Directorate of Civil Aviation).

Hazardous Goods not accepted by

· Class 1 — Except Class 1.4S
· Class 3 — With packing group I and secondary risk
· Class 4 — With packing group I and secondary risk
· Class 5 — Division 5.1 with packing group I — Division 5.2 · Class 6 — Division 6.1 with packing group I
· Class 7
· Class 8 — With packing group I and secondary risk

· Objects and substances that meet the definition of “waste”.
· There are hazardous goods that require prior authorization for their transport, see the IATA Hazardous Goods Regulations.
